One small trial is the entire case for psilocybin and OCD
What they did
A researcher reviewed everything published on psychedelics for obsessive-compulsive disorder, covering the proposed mechanisms alongside the clinical evidence.
What they found
The evidence base is one small open-label trial in nine people plus a series of case reports. In that trial, 88.9 percent of participants saw at least a 25 percent symptom improvement and 66.7 percent saw at least a 50 percent reduction.
Worth knowing
This review is the reason OCD keeps appearing in psilocybin coverage, and it exists to point out how thin the evidence is. Everything beyond that single nine-person study is case reports dating back to the 1960s.
