What our evidence ratings mean

What they did

Twelve adults with moderate to severe body dysmorphic disorder that had not responded to at least one antidepressant received a single 25mg dose of psilocybin with psychological support, then were followed for twelve weeks.

What they found

Severity scores fell significantly over twelve weeks and seven of twelve participants, or 58 percent, met the responder threshold. No serious adverse events occurred.

7 of 12met the responder threshold

Worth knowing

Open-label with no control group, so expectancy is unmeasured. Twelve people in a condition where symptom severity naturally fluctuates.
