What our evidence ratings mean

What they did

Twenty-two people with post-traumatic stress disorder received a single 25mg dose of psilocybin across multiple sites, with safety and tolerability as the primary aim.

What they found

No serious adverse events occurred. Mean scores on the standard PTSD assessment fell by 29.9 points at week four and 29.5 points at week twelve. Headache affected half the group and nausea affected around a third.

Worth knowing

Open-label with nobody randomised and nothing to compare against, in a condition with a well-documented large placebo response. Read this as a safety result with an encouraging side note.
