Most of those smokers were still quit years later
What they did
The Johns Hopkins smoking cohort was re-assessed at twelve months and again at an average of thirty months after the target quit date, with biologically verified abstinence and qualitative interviews.
What they found
Ten of fifteen were confirmed abstinent at twelve months, and nine of the twelve who returned for long-term follow-up were still abstinent. Nearly 87 percent rated the psilocybin sessions among the five most personally meaningful experiences of their lives.
Worth knowing
Same fifteen people, same limitations. Only twelve returned for the long follow-up, and people who quit successfully are more likely to come back and tell you about it.
