What they did

Eight healthy volunteers received placebo and four ascending psilocybin doses, with twenty-four hour heart tracing, blood pressure, hormone and attention measures taken each time.

What they found

Psychological effects increased with dose while heart rate and body temperature were unchanged. Mean arterial blood pressure rose moderately an hour after the highest dose. The authors reported no indication of physical hazard.

Worth knowing

Eight healthy screened people. Blood pressure is the finding to carry forward if you have a cardiovascular condition, and it is a reason to talk to a doctor rather than a reason to worry.
