Mood rose on dosing days, and so did neuroticism

Good days on dosing days, and a rise in neuroticism nobody expected.

What our evidence ratings mean

What they did

Ninety-eight people already microdosing gave daily ratings of psychological functioning across six weeks. Sixty-three of them also completed mood, attention and wellbeing batteries at the start and the end.

What they found

Reported functioning rose on dosing days with limited carryover to non-dosing days. Depression and stress fell across the six weeks, but neuroticism went up. A separate group of 263 people expected larger benefits than the study actually measured.

Worth knowing

The expectancy sub-study is the interesting part. People consistently predicted bigger gains than the diaries recorded, which is the same signal the controlled trials keep picking up.
