What they did

The same team tracked 953 psilocybin microdosers and 180 non-microdosing comparators for about thirty days using repeated mood, mental health and app-based psychomotor tests.

What they found

Microdosers showed small to medium improvements in depression, anxiety, stress and mood relative to controls, consistent across age, gender and mental health status. Psychomotor gains showed up mainly in older adults.

Worth knowing

Naturalistic, not blinded and not placebo-controlled. The comparison group chose not to microdose rather than being randomly assigned, so expectancy is still very much in play.
